Footpaths to Creativity - A residency in the Azores Islands; "Our residency is off the beaten path at the western most remote tip of Europe, in the tiny island Flores. This somewhat mysterious location is a tiny island of 12 villages and less than 5,000 residents, a temperate climate, and tons of seclusion." The language at the residency is English. On the island they speak Portuguese and some english and French. Applicants: Artists, photographers, writers, composers, philosophers of all levels who want to spend the time away form frantic pace of daily life. Residency can be 1 to 2 weeks to 1 year. The Writer's Place; Salmon Publishing; Cliffs of Moher, County Clare, Ireland; The Writers Place accommodations at the Salmon Publishing premises is a beautiful study/bedroom with views down a valley to Liscannor and Lahinch Bay and beyond to the Kerry Mountains, half a mile from the world-famous Cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare. There are photos of the room and the area on their website. There is no formal application form, but you must have a project in mind; for example, developing your writing or working on a book/collection. They need to see an outline of the project. The fee is US$300 per week, which includes meals and conveniences, such as internet access, some computer use if necessary (although, of course, it's better to bring a laptop if you have one) printer use, fax and laundry. This location is outstanding for creative work and all the residents so far have been tremendously pleased with what they were able to accomplish.
