National Writers Union - Many writers belong to this organization in order to find jobs, have arbitration and to promote their careers. Predators and Editors - This site lists complaints from writers about editors, websites and others. Ripoff Report - "Ripoff Report® is a worldwide consumer reporting Web site and publication, by consumers, for consumers, to file and document complaints about companies or individuals." Science Fiction And Fantasy Writers Of America, Inc. - Their title says it all. They also have a list of agents and publishers to stay away from. SFF Net - A great site covering science fiction, fantasy, horror, mystery, military and romance. Whispers and Warnings from Writers Weekly - This site lists payment, and other problems, that writers have had with editors and publishers. Writer Alerts - These publishers have been unresponsive to writer grievances, and the National Writers Union Grievance and Contract Division recommends that you take the listed information into account before signing a contract with any of the parties. Writer Beware - Warnings About Literary Fraud and Other Schemes, Scams, and Pitfalls That Target Writers. Writing.com - "Writing.Com is the online community for writers and readers of all interests and skill levels. Whether you're an enthusiastic, creative writer looking for the perfect place to store and display your writing online or a casual reader searching for a good story, Writing.Com is the website for you!" Writing For Dollars - This is a large database of guidelines for publications that you can search using various parameters. Markets for WritersMy ebook, The Writer's Answer Book - This 97-page ebook is an excellent source of information for both new and experienced writers. It's filled with answers to your questions, insider information you won't find in other books, and markets for your writing. Byline Magazine - "ByLine is a monthly magazine for writers. Since its founding in 1981, ByLine has published--and paid for--the first work of hundreds of poets and writers of fiction and nonfiction. We encourage and advise novice writers; we publish the work of beginners and veterans alike. The magazine presents articles on the craft or business of writing, including regular columns on writing poetry, fiction, nonfiction and children's literature. We also publish short stories and poetry, and a special feature for student writers." They pay between $10 and $100. Funds For Writers - This is a great site for writers looking for sources to make money, and they have a great newsletter too. Along with publications, they list funds, grants, contests, awards and many other places where most writers wouldn't think about looking for money. The Market List - "The Market List - A Writers Resource for all Fiction Genres - The Market List is the original electronic writers market resource. Started in 1994 as an online ezine on AOL and Compuserve, and with the first fully comprehensive writers market guidelines index online, The Market List has a ten year history of providing aspiring and professional writers with potential markets for their fiction." NewsDirectory.com - This site lists television stations, newspapers and magazines from around the world. It also has links for research in different areas. Speculations - They do not print fiction stories, but they do print articles, interviews, instruction, research, and anything else that will help writers sell their fiction pieces. They published an article of mine about agents, and paid me very well. They pay a flat fee for the first 1,000 copies of the magazine they sell. If they have to print more copies you are paid again for each 1,000 copies they print. You can find their author's contract on their site. They pay at least three cents per word, upon acceptance. Spicy Green Iguana - If you need to find a genre publication, both print and ezine, this is the place. They break down the publications by what they pay. This is a great site. Twilight Times - This is an ezine that has published two of my stories. According to their guidelines: "Twilight Times was created to present the works of those writers whose stories 'blend' genres, are too 'literary' for other zines or seem too mainstream or 'quirky' in tone. Not interested in horror, gore, violence or darker works such as psycho-killer tales." We're not seeing enough slipstream or speculative fiction submissions from women writers. Currently interested in New Age topics, articles on e-publishing and/or creative writing. They are a non-paying market. WritersWeekly.com - This is a nice page of freelance jobs and paying markets. There are a lot of listings on this site and each listing is full of useful information. Worldwide Freelance Writer - You'll find lots of markets here from all over the world. Writers Write - This is another great source for finding markets for your writing. WritingForDollars.com - They have a list of professional, semi-pro, small press and electronic publications. At the bottom of the page you will also find a list of market resources. Links for PhotographersAmerican Society Of Media Photographers - "ASMP is the premier resource for community, culture, commerce and publications relating to publication photography. ASMP is the authoritative voice of publication photographers worldwide." Arizona Highways - "Arizona Highways is famous for its outstanding photography — vivid, full-color images taken by many of America's best photographers. We've expanded our online photography section to bring you more than amazing images. Don't miss Photography Talk and Ask the Photo Editor!" Calumet Digital Solutions - Calumet has launched this site for professional digital photographers. Cepolina.com - Over 5,000 free photos are available for download. Each photo can be saved in five formats (up to 1024X768 pixels). You can download any photo for private or commercial use. Chocolography.com - They are selling a machine that lets you print full color, edible, photographs on chocolate itms, like lollypops, bars, greeting cards and more. Yum!

Kodak Professional - It has good all around photography information, and promotes Kodak, of course. Kodak's Tips And Projects Center - Kodak offers useful tips for the beginning photographer. Maria Piscopo - A Creatives Services and Marketing Consultant - "Maria Piscopo is a Creative Services Consultant for Artists, Designers and Photographers and has been working as an art/photo rep for twenty five years. She teaches workshops for artists, designers and photographers at their conferences and professional associations and at various local colleges." Maria is a friend of mine, and she does great work. Photoalley - Here you will find all kinds of photography equipment to buy. Everything from cameras, to filters, to flash units and more. You will also find How-To articles and product reviews. Photo District News Online - This is a great site for professional photographers. Photo District News Online: Photosources - This is the starting page for part of the Photo District News web site. It is the beginning of a huge link section covering professional dealers and retailers, equipment, services, supplies, stock suppliers, manufacturers and more. PDN has a great site. PhotoImaging Information Council - Its website is now having world renowned professional photographers put their knowledge on the website. Some of these photographers include Denis Reggie (wedding photographer), George Kalinsky (sports photography) and Steve McCurry (travel photography). Take a look and see what there is to see. Portfolios Online - Warp 10 Technologies, owner and operator of this site is introducing free, self-managed online portfolios for creative professionals anywhere in the world. This service is open to photographers, designers, illustrators, art directors and interactive artists. Professional Photographers of America, Inc. (PPA) - This site offers a lot of information for photographers. Slash - Rick Sammon - "Welcome to Rick Sammon's world of digital photography! Here you will find Photoshop tips, books, DVDs, schedule of presentations, workshops and more." Stock Artists Alliance - "SAA is the only photographers' trade association that is focused exclusively on the business of stock." Ulead Learning Center - They offer a lot of short articles for photographers on a wide variety of topics. Wedding And Portrait Photographers International - This organizations has a lot to offer photographers, and they are affiliated with Rangefinder Magazine. Markets for PhotographersMany ezines do not pay writers for their work, instead they offer exposure and editorial input. Don't pass by a publication just because it doesn't pay. The exposure alone is worth it. Be sure to carefully read their contract and that there's nothing there saying that the copyright transfers to them. Always keep your copyright. Also, ask them how long they want you to wait before you submit the story elsewhere. Apogee Magazine - "A free online magazine designed to inform and entertain photographers of all ages and levels." They do no pay. Outdoor Photographer - "Is a national magazine published 10 times per year for enthusiasts with a special passion for nature, travel and outdoor sports. We take a fresh look at the modern photographic world by encouraging photography as part of a lifestyle associated with outdoor recreation." They pay, but they don't say how much in their submission guidelines. PCPhoto - "Is a national magazine published 8 times per year (6 bimonthly regular issues plus 2 special issues) for people who want to explore and expand their application of photography by making good use of the computer." They pay, but they don't say how much in their submission guidelines. Photo Life Magazine - This Canadian publication accepts articles and photographs for various departments of their publication. Their submission guidelines did not mention pay, so they probably don't pay anything, but it's good exposure. ArtJob online is a comprehensive employment site dedicated to connecting individuals to jobs and opportunities in the arts. ArtJob also lists fellowships, grants, residences and other opportunities. The Art Store - Art supplies for various mediums, including computers. The stories and artwork have always fascinated me. Recently I got back into collecting comics and wanted to pass along some of the links I found. I hope you find them entertaining and useful. Be aware that some comic sites are more adult oriented due to sex and violence. Balloon Tales - Here you'll find tips, tricks, interviews, articles and more. Blue Line Pro - They offer a large line of supplies and equipment for comic artists. They also publish Sketch magazine, which offers a lot of useful information for anyone involved with comics. Bud Plant Comic Art - I love this site. You can buy some great art here, and use it as a resource to see how other artists draw their comics. Comic Coloring In Photoshop 7 - This is a very good tutorial on coloring comics. Celtic and Renaissance Faire LinksI have been attending Renaissance Faires for over 25 years. The past eight years at the Arizona Renaissance Faire. This is a wonderful Faire offering many pleasurable shows, activities and venders. Huzzah! Amber Moon - Reva Myers has some fantastic jewelry, carved amber, fossil ivory, antler, and jet and paintings. Black Prince Armory - They make wonderful handmade chain mail fashions. My girlfriend bought one of their head pieces a couple of years ago, and loves it. She wears it to every Faire and Celtic event we go to, and to some other social events. My girlfriend has one of their anklets, and several pairs of earrings. Caution, this site does contain an adult picture area that is not suitable for minors. Clay Images - Melissa and Jim Hogenson make wonderfully whimsical stoneware. My favorites are the dragons with incense smoke coming out of their nose or mouth, and the wizard lamp that has him holding a flame in his hand. Global Scent Company - If you need incense, scented bathing crystals, massage oils or perfume oils, then this is the place. Their incense ranges in size from one-inch cones to 33-inch sticks, and they have about 500 different scents of perfume oil. Humpty Dumpty...Before and After - These people make amazing things out of ostrich and emu eggs. You can get carvings on whole eggs, or pins, earrings and other great stuff. My girlfriend and I each have pins. We got the carved emu eggs on ostrich eggs. The white of the ostrich egg really sets off the dark green of the emu egg. If you're at all concerned about animal cruelty, no birds were harmed to make these pieces of art. They buy the pieces of eggshell from birds that hatched. For whole eggs they buy unfertilized ones. I have one of his prints hanging in my house. Northern Arizona Celtic Heritage Society - This is a great group of people, and I'm a member. They put on a huge two-day festival in July, offer scholarships for Celtic studies and more. You can catch me running the Blarney Pub at the Festival each year. Nouveau Designs - Louis Plante makes some really great wood furnature and furnishings. I have my eye on several things for my house. Ravenwood Castle - Leave the modern world behind for a day or a few, while you travel back 800 years to a bit of medieval England, surrounded by the Wayne National Forest and just seven miles from the beautiful Hocking Hills. Ravenwood Castle sits atop the highest hill in scenic Vinton County's Swan township. Fifty acres of forest and large rock formations surround the castle which reached by a half-mile private road." What is unique about his work is that you can buy uncolored prints and coloring books, and color them yourself with colored pencils, watercolors and other media. Their performers put on some great plays. All of the actors are deaf, but they have sign interpreters on the side of the stage and hearing actors who speak all the parts.
